Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Digital Product Passports and EU compliance

General

What is a Digital Product Passport (DPP)?

A Digital Product Passport is a digital record containing key information about a product's sustainability, materials, origin, and lifecycle. It's accessed via a QR code and is required by EU regulations for certain product categories to promote circular economy and consumer transparency.

What product categories does DPPro support?

DPPro supports Textiles (clothing, accessories), Batteries (portable, EV, industrial), Electronics (consumer devices), and Furniture. Each category has specific required fields based on EU regulations.

EU Compliance

When do I need to comply with EU DPP requirements?

Timeline varies by product category. Battery passports are mandatory from February 2027. Textile DPP delegated acts are expected in 2027. The EU's central DPP registry launches in July 2026. We recommend starting preparation now to ensure smooth compliance.

What happens to my passport data if I uninstall the app?

Your metafield data remains in your Shopify store even after uninstalling. As per EU regulations, we retain passport records for 10 years to ensure compliance. Public passport URLs will continue to work during this retention period.

Technical

How does DPPro integrate with my Shopify store?

DPPro stores all compliance data directly in Shopify metafields using the dpp_compliance namespace. This means your data stays in your store and can be used by other apps or your theme. We use Shopify's GraphQL Admin API for seamless integration.

Can I customize the passport page design?

Yes, Professional and Enterprise plans include custom branding options. You can add your logo, customize colors, and modify the layout to match your brand identity.

How do QR codes work?

Each product gets a unique QR code that links to its public passport page. QR codes are dynamic, meaning the passport content can be updated without changing the code. You can download QR codes in PNG or SVG format for printing on products or packaging.

Is my data secure?

Yes, we use industry-standard encryption and security measures. Data is stored on secure servers within the EU. We are GDPR compliant and undergo regular security audits.

Can I export my data?

Yes, you can export all your passport data in various formats (JSON, CSV) at any time. This ensures data portability as required by GDPR.

Billing

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel anytime by uninstalling the app from your Shopify admin. Your subscription will end at the current billing period. Passport data is retained per EU requirements.
